One day in 1964, I think, I read that the Ancient Greeks used to decorate their amphorae, not for posterity, but to encourage the consumer to buy the wine that these jars contained. From there, I realized that the container is always a function of the content and that, the content essentially always overrides the container. Content-container, message-language, substance-form, same battle.

To materialize this concept, I made casts of the interiors of containers. Be they the contents of bottles, cigarette packs, coffee, cameras, cabinets.

It’s a Roman work to waste twenty bags of plaster, pouring them, bucket by bucket, into the cabinet by climbing on a ladder.
