First Cell

Description:
Yoko Gunji elaborates her work on cells in 1974 from ceramics. The following year she wanted to experiment her cell with living beings. Under the impulse of Claude Viallat, she offers to her students in decorative arts to works outside the scope of the school. The refusal of the management did not prevent her from carrying out clandestinely her action. In the countryside she installed her first tarlatan cell intended for people. A gathering place, of intimate proximity, the students gathered there and appropriated it. The cell became the premises for a party.
