Description:
For this runway performance Junko Yamasaki invites six actors to evolve and dance on the gallery's terrace, dressed in her textile creations: hairy clothes. "This piece was born from my desire to deepen the interest I have in the connection between animality and humanity. Born in Japan and having lived in France for 10 years, the cultural difference first escaped me then enriched my identity as an artist. To accompany this show, I chose six pieces of music from three different cultures: Japanese, Arabic and French. The first Japanese music chosen, very refined, is one of the traditional music of the Imperial Court. The other, from an Aïnu tribe (of Northern Japan) is very primal. The Arabic music, swinging, is used only of the fashion show parts. I discovered the Arabic culture here, which I did not know at all in Japan. It is situated between Occident and Asia. As for Gainsbourg, I chose him because his music is one of the reasons for my coming to France. The sincerity of his work always intrigued me. This "runway performance" was added to the gallery 10 days later."
