In a garden in Fréjus, Robert Roux and myself, set up a table, two chairs, an ax, two bottles, a jerrican of water, two corks and a game of chess on a tray. A chess clock was set to 5 minutes per side.

We sit down on the chairs and begin the game. It ends pretty quickly. The clock is then put aside, and we stand facing each other. We’re both put on goggles and clear the board of its pieces. The fight, chair against chair, continues until their destruction, the ax allows for the reduction of the bars of the chairs into strips so that all can fit into the bottles. A bit of dirt is added, it all being completed with water, the two corks guaranteeing closure. Two wax seals are added afterwards. We remove everything in the garden and leave with the table and the rest of what remains…
