Description:

In September 2003, I took over the Marroussia Rebecq space by an olfactory action; in 2009, I restore the action in the Galerie Virtuelle Gaëtan Bellevue (Virtual Gallery Gaëtan Bellevue).

On September 20, I prepared an envelope of the Durian fruit that is still odorous, not too much so that the perfume remains discreet.

After visiting the Villa, I go to put it all the way in the back of a niche of Maroussia Rebecq’s Perdu le Paradis (Paradise Lost). Maroussia has cut into the wall facing left under the stairs that go down to level 1. Hole repaired after the exhibition. It is in this recovered, musty smelling space that it takes place

After a guided tour of Villa Arson, I head towards the room on level 1. A student is hot on my sneaker heels and doesn’t let me go, I must create a diversion. I take advantage of the chance to look at William Kentridge’s excellent video Shadow Procession again. My babysitter grows weary...and I am once again free to go about my business.

I return to Paradise Lost: surprise, there is a light bulb illuminating the inside of the den, a change from my first visits.

I place the piece of durien skin with its label and its questions behind a stone on the ground, it is the place farthest from the entrance under the staircase.

The durian is the fruit of a thousand flavors. You love it or you hate it. You’ll find fresh ones in Asian shops; let a knowledgeable person choose for you, it is an art.
