Description: 

In this conference-screening, Olivier Garcin, before a stand, reads a text written by himself intitled I am the History of Art. A black and white film showing a ski lesson is projected simultaneously but backwards. This poetry performance is first performed at the Comité Mélangeur, l’Apocope Marseille, in 2002, then at Garage 103 during the event Carted on June 21, 2008.

Two elements combine, play simultaneously: the backwards and upside down screening of a 16 mm black and white film presenting a Swiss Alpine ski lesson (the skiers go up the slope backwards and upside down, the clouds seem to be snowy slopes, the mountains seem the be the sky and clouds) and Olivier Garcin’s declamation of the text retracting the art history since “The Renaissance is Michel-Angelo Buonarroti” to that which “gobble up” today, movement by movement, personality by personality, without ever mentioning Olivier Garcin.
