Description:

Jean Mas openly gathers, harangues, and then insults the audience. Here is the text that he pronounced to his audience:

It is with the Maoist idea of a guide for the people that I have done this performance:

“You needed a guide, now you have one!”

Ladies and Gentlemen, People here today:

I have the pleasure of being with you tonight for a memorable evening.

“Harangues 2” is a variation of “Harangues 1” which was place for the first time at the Galerie Le Chanjour on March 8, 1992.

Harangues includes 3 phases:

– 1/ Gathering.

– 2/ Haranges.

– 3/ Insults.

Child, for a long time I confused “un livre” (a book) with “une livre” (a pound). For Freud, if the denial of castration creates psychosis, it is very much in the step (this progress forward) denied that the Subject settles.

Also, it always seeks by repetition to gather.

Institutions are born from gatherings. The shopping cart is suitable for all purchases, even if they are of analysis.

This is the ultimate gathering place for healthy weight [of the ‘baby’]

1/ GATHERING

If you came tonight in such great numbers, it is because, at your core, at the deepest point of your being, you feel the need, the urgent need to regroup, to join forces, to get out of this country in a rut.

Perseverance in the effort, we are going to lead it into a battle that will drive our Motherland to renew the sacred alliance, the indissoluble bond of blood and soil.

It is the absolute duty of the People’s government, finally awoken, to consolidate the National uprising to achieve this destiny.

Only this great line – from which we must never separate – allows, if we focus on it with an imperturbable logic, the assurance of ultimate success. Then and only then will we be able to see to our astonishment what immense results, barely comprehensible, we end up with, thanks to such a great perseverance.

2/ HARANGUES 2

Tonight is a big night: We needed a guide, we have one!

If you came tonight in such great numbers, it is because, at your core, at the deepest point of your being, you feel the need, the urgent need to regroup, to join forces, to break out of literature and art in a rut.

We needed a guide, we have one!

Perseverance in the effort, we are going to lead it into a battle that will drive our Motherland to renew the sacred alliance, the indissoluble bond of ink and penholder.

We needed a guide, we have one!

It is the absolute duty of the People’s government and of the editors, finally awoken, to consolidate the National uprising of the writers to achieve this destiny.

We needed a guide, we have one!

Only this great line – from which we much never separate – allows, if we focus on it with an imperturbable logic, and the periods and the commas without forgetting the umlauts, the assurance of ultimate success.

We needed a guide, we have one!

Then and only then will we be able to see to our astonishment what immense results, barely comprehensible, we end up with, thanks to the guide of Art and of Z’Éditions.

We needed a guide, and now we have one!

3/ INSULTS.

In the spirit of interaction between writing and painting, since Z’Éditions and painting are very much linked, I invite you to prepare yourselves for a great combat by addressing you, under the guise of insults, what you will never hear here.
